Why “Swallowing the Sword”

With this mixed metaphor drawn from Ephesians 6:7, Hebrews 4:12, and Deuteronomy 8:3, I am trying to invoke the delicate balance between spectacle and practicality a sword swallower must maintain. One wrong move, and the sword might tear an irreparable hole in the performer’s organs. But done correctly, he can awe and even inspire audiences.

James 3:1 warns us “Do not, many of you, become teachers, my brothers, knowing that we will receive a stricter judgment.” Even sharing my thoughts publicly brings me under closer scrutiny. God forbid that I would lead anyone astray with the words recorded in this blog. It is my prayer that you consume the word of God daily, let it strengthen you, and then draw from what you have learned to fight the enemy wherever you encounter him.
